Language Centre Mission

In all its activities, the Language Centre strives to follow the principles and strategies put forward by the University of Turku.

Our mission:

  • To offer high quality language and intercultural teaching to all faculties and students
  • To provide students with the language skills they need in their studies and later working life
  • To provide students with the intercultural knowledge they may need in working life
  • To promote multilingualism and multiculturalism
  • To create a positive and safe learning environment
  • To provide students with the skills and strategies they need for autonomous life-long learning
  • To constantly strive to develop and improve our quality and services

Language Centre Vision

Our vision for the future:

  • We offer high quality research-based teaching both in a classroom context and also by using the latest communication technology and learning platforms
  • In order to ensure quality we have a continuous cycle of development, output, and feedback in all areas of our operations
  • Our teaching has clear in-built learning outcomes for students
  • We offer a wide variety of study modules to benefit students' language skills and cultural knowledge
  • We work in co-operation with a wide variety of partners locally, nationally and internationally
